Ultraviolet

As a person who enjoyed watching Aeon Flux, Ultraviolet is an awful experience. I haven’t watched something that horrible for a very long time. Despite its obvious storyline, I like AEON FLUX a lot, which means I am not opposed to watching sci-fi heroine comical movies. But Ultraviolet is way too ridiculous. First, even thought it was written by Kurt Wimmer, who wrote The Recruit (a good one), The Thomas Crown Affair (a good one) and Equilibrium (an excellent one), it’s got a crappy storyline. The bridges between each segment were built badly cutting this movie in pieces. It’s hard to relate to characters and, believe it or not, I tried really hard to like it but for that 88 minutes I’d never get back, I felt extremely bored. Some reviewer mentioned that it’s not fair comparing it to other BIGGER sci-fi/martial art/heroine movies when it’s done with rather low budget. But what makes it bad wasn’t its indelicate fighting scene, or unconvincing special effect, but it’s story.
There are still some things I appreciate/like about this movie: Milla Jovovich’s awesome purple/black hair and her nice figure. I especially like the shooting scene with a bunch of Asian mafia look guys on the roof, and the scene when Violet walked into the building and scanner said “Weapons:…. many.” which was unfortunately ruined right after the “receptionist” said “huh!?”
It’s got a potential to be good but it turned out to be a very very long shampoo commercial. Sad.
