On the way to work

Lately I take I-680 (and then I-880) to work instead of I-880 all the way. One is to decrease the distance to drive on local, though it takes around the same time to get to my destination; two is that the scenery is so much nicer along I-680, if there’s anything called scenery on I-880 that is.
Especially in winter and early spring, the only time of year the Bay is graced by rain. The mountains take off their brown caot and put on fairytale-like grass-green velvet. The blue sky vastly presents and the sun light pours down on earthly-colored houses, at dawn or dusk. How can I possibly not be cheered seeing such a view. Karen J. Fowler wrote this in The Jane Austen Book Club, “… only a native could love the summer landscape of the Valley, with the grasses all dead and the oaks parched and gray.” I’m not a Nor Cal native for sure. Even though I despise the summer (or any other month when the view everywhere is just plain ugly,) I no doubt appreciate the jolliness of the blue, green and sunlight painted yellow.
