– Trip to North Coast, Part II
Day 2 – Back to the Nature
Got up, had breakfaast in the hotel and we started to head south. Our destination today is Lava Bed National Monument. We drove a while on the CA-OR stateline. Funny how the grass seemed greener in OR side.
We first visit the wildlife refuge, saw a lot of birds, ducks, geese AND overwhelmingly large amount of mosquitos! We also saw the carvings on an rock which is used to be an island by the Indians.
Then it’s a series of caves. It’s pretty fun and I freaked out a little bit when going into a very-very-deep and dark cave, according to a mom coming out, which turned out to be not true.
Haunted by the experience of previous night, we decided to head directly to Redding after we got out of Chocolate cave. Longing for big chunk of steak, we went to some Roadhouse (not Taxes Roadhouse.) Satisfied, we walked across the street to check into our hotel while the guys drove to get some drinks. We played a few rounds of Apples to Apples and just chilled.
Day 3 – Food
Itenerary for the day wasn’t set, so we slept to our hearts’ content. Then we went to the Sundial bridge.
Later we went to Sacremento for lunch – Sushi!!!! After lunch, we walked to the State Capitol and it was so unbearably hot that we had a peak of the Capitol and went back to our van. Our next destination: Davis for dessert. It was quite disappointing so we finished it quick and toured around the city a little bit and headed back to Oakland for dinner. (Told you the day was all about food.)
