The Lady of Shalott – A. Tennyson
Oct 18th, 2005 by Ashley
We all know how Anne Shirley loves this poem, The Lady of Shalott. Today, reminded of this poem, and the story of Camelot, I wiki-ed up the 1842 version and read the story as well. I like the name Lancelot but I’ve always hated that man. I’m deeply under the influence of the musical Camelot and felt as heartbroken as King Arthur. And now that I realized Elaine, the lady of Shalott, was another victim of Lancelot’s carelessly-spread charm, sighed. The painting was by John William Waterhouse in 1988. I’m intended to get a poster and hang it somewhere. The lady of Shalott.
