The Strokes [Angels]

Opening song, Machu Picchu. My reaction: what the heck is this? This is by no means the Strokes I knew. Thankfully, we smoothed into a single, Under Cover Of Darkness, which is more Strokes-esque. But that’s probably because I’ve gotten used to it after hearing it so many times. On to Two Kinds Of Happiness, my complaint so far: why do I hear Julian so clearly? Where is the old-fashioned, static radio-esque quality that I so loved?
In all, Angels is a bit too cheery for my taste. Not that I don’t like a happy album, it’s just not The Strokes to me.
