I know I’m gonna miss this winter-like weather, chill and pleasantly gloomy, once I set foot on the humid land of Taipei. Two weeks ago when I went down to LA for Chelsea + Inter match, the heat struck me without warning (when I stepped out of the terminal, an unusually cool breeze had me worried for a while cos I packed light. I mean, really light. But then it was only an illusion. LA was hot as hell and I couldn’t be gladder to have come back.) The heavenly (and cheap) food cannot tempt me any more, Los Angeles is for winter and spring not for summer or fall. However, a even greater challenge awaits. This time it’s not as easy as to shun the siren call of Ramen, Japanese fusion, traditional Korean and/or foot massage, it is food AND family and someone I long to see. Infamous weather, you don’t scare me! Hot and humid and sweaty and sticky, I’m not afraid! Nothing can keep me away. (oh well, money did.) I’m coming home.

現在幾乎都在看 cable 的影集, USA, TNT, SyFy 等. TNT 有 Leverage, Dark Blue (主角實在不討人喜歡), USA 有 Psych (現在都在看rerun) 還有 SyFy 的 Warehouse 13.
不過 cable 跟 network 的調調還是蠻不同的, 期待下季有好看的新戲.

莫名地因為再小也不能小的事生氣或眼淚幾乎要奪眶而出

因為愧疚而破涕為笑 (明明是帶著開心期待的心情開啟的話題 豈料是這樣的結果?)
在好言好語之下漸漸和緩了情緒 回復輕鬆的閒聊
然而你知道 又是需要好好大哭一場的時刻
只是 這些時刻怎麼越來越頻繁?

兩年前的夏天, Chelsea 來到灣區跟 Club America 進行友誼賽, 那是我第一次現場看 Chelsea 的比賽, 我的位子剛好在他們熱身的前面, 於是情不自禁照了一堆 JT 的屁屁. XD

今年他們又來美國巡迴, 然而這次的行程只有 Seattle, Pasadena, Baltimore 跟 Dallas. 本來想說算了, 因為還得花機票錢跟住宿費, 與其把錢花在隨性的友誼賽上, 還不如存錢去英國看聯賽. 不過後來得知在 Pasadena 那場是對上 Mourinho 的 Inter, 又讓我改變了主意. 第一次是看魔力鳥的 Chelsea, 第二次看 Chelsea 對上魔力鳥的 Inter, 其實意義還蠻特殊的. 於是信用卡一刷, 熱死人的 LA, 我來了.

比賽當天, 我們(地主Greg <- 皇馬迷, 與遠從大峽谷趕來看Chelsea 的Patty)吃完中餐就來到今年Chelsea in American 的據點 - Lucky Baldwin's (平常 Pasadena 的球迷會聚在這家店看 Chelsea 的比賽). 拿了票, 跟幾位熟識的美國 Chelsea 鄉民邊喝啤酒邊閒聊了兩句, 我們便驅車前往 Rose Bowl 的 fan fest, 因為聽說 FA Cup 會在 Chelsea MegaStore 的攤子, 我想說如果能夠摸一下真的 FA Cup, 跟它照個相一定會讓很多人羨慕. XD (結果等了半天都沒有等到 FA Cup 出現. =_=) 因為天氣太熱, Greg 跟 Patty 跑到樹蔭下睡覺, 而我待在Chelsea球迷區跟朋友聊天喝啤酒唱歌. 唱 Celery 的時候大家還會拿芹菜丟來丟去. XD 有別對球迷經過的時候, 還會唱 "Who Are You! Who Are You!" "We hate Tottenham! We hate Tottenham! We hate Tottenham!" 或是 "Adebayor 什麼什麼" (歌詞聽不清楚 XD) 後來有個人拿著電話說我的利記朋友在線上, 你們要對他說什麼, 大家就開始唱 "Have you ever seen Gerrard win the league?" 大約七點我們就進場看球員暖身, 一開始還是 Cech 先出來. 後來兩方球員都出來時, Mourihno 站在中線上, 一直有 Chelsea 的工作人員跑去跟他握手還有閒聊幾句, 真是有點感傷又覺得溫馨. 這次因為距離比較遠, 所以就沒有照太多照片了. 開賽前廣播宣布先發名單時, 因為我坐在 Chelsea in America 區, 念到 Chelsea 球員大家就會歡呼, 念到 Inter 球員時就會 boo, 但是念到 Inter Milan manager, Jose Mourinho 的時候, 大家還是歡呼了, 還有一小批人唱起 Jose Mourinho Jose Mourinho, 好感人 T^T 比賽內容就不多說了, 大家都有看嘛. XD 心得是: JT(大心!) Drogba 好小隻, Anelka 真強 (為啥平常都在散步熱身賽倒是那麼認真呢?) Deco 好囧.

對不起我看不出 Steve McQueen 哪裡迷人了, 不自然的大笑, 跟 Faye Dunaway 接吻時根本就像肚子餓極而狼吞虎嚥, 可憐了Faye Dunaway. Faye Dunaway 倒是棒得沒話說, 眼神, 微笑, 性暗示都掌握的恰到好處.

本片的音樂也十分用心, 其中 Windmills of Your Mind 獲得當年奧斯卡最佳歌曲, 好好聽.

I started to read listen to The Lighthouse two days ago. The beautifully flowing language with honest observation and insights reminds me why I love her writings so much. I remember being repeatedly enchanted by her sharp yet warm-hearted remarks when I was reading The Murder Room. However, Death in the Holy Order failed to impress me; it seemed to have lost its magic. (It’s still a good read. Don’t get me wrong.) This time, The Lighthouse never ceased to amaze me from the beginning to the very end. James’ gentle voice leads us to the mind of the characters, including AD and his team. Her precise analysis of her characters’ states of mind and motives, for me, is the most enjoyable part of the book. She also squeezed in one of Auden’s line “Those to whom evil is done / Do evil in return.”

I highly recommend this one. (but to get the most of it, it’s advised to read at least Death in Holy Orders and The Murder Room first.)

在 Hamburg 的 Petrić, 很期待他有好表現.

最後, Eduardo 傷應該好了吧. 某廠那邊就虛應一下, 專心踢國家隊啦! XD

看無聊小說

Counting Crows 最新的一張專輯不像前幾張讓我那麼愛不釋手, 但有幾首聽到熟悉的嗓音與編曲, 還是忍不住感動, 這是我的愛團, 這是我下周末就可以親眼見親耳聽的愛團. (喔拜託一定要唱 Round Here 跟 Hard Candy)

聽完 Saturday Nights 後就要來聽 Better Than Ezra 的 Paper Empire 了. 光是想像就讓我渾身起雞皮疙瘩, 對於一個團的新專輯, 竟然會造成我有如要出去玩前一夜興奮地睡不著的感覺, 也許是他們老是有辦法挑動最深刻最細膩卻又最平易近人的人類情緒, 而讓我現在的心情是期待到不能自己.

但光是目前的 Counting Crows 就讓我覺得好幸福, 即使他在那邊唱著 oh no you can’t count on me.

很少聽hip-hop/R&B但這首實在很好聽.

片名引用字 Ernest Dowson 的詩.

其實我沒有看完, 我看了前 50 分鐘, 後面跳著看了幾個畫面, 然後看了結尾男女主角對峙的五分鐘. 平常不會這樣看電影的, 但也許是這部片的主題實在太令人沮喪, 讓我不想跟他們一起渡過.

電影的背景設定在舊金山, 主題是酗酒.

女主角本來是滴酒不沾的, 卻因為男主角希望有人陪他一起喝, 而開始喝酒. 結果兩個人都變成有酗酒問題的酒鬼. 看著最後一幕, 無法離開酒精的女主角回來找好不容易戒酒成功, 帶著他們的小女兒重新建立起一個健康的家庭的男主角. 男主角說, 如果你肯戒酒, 願意我們兩一起努力, 那麼這個家歡迎你. 但是女主角無法活在沒有酒精的世界. 因為不透過酒精, 這個世界太醜陋她無法忍受. 女主角無法承諾, 於是黯然離開. 因為兩人都很明白, 若是生活在一起, 只要有一個人喝酒, 另一個人也絕對無法抵抗誘惑的. 我與男主角一起看著女主角在街上的背影, 心裡想著 “還不都是你害的…” 這結局實在是非常令人心酸.

So my trip to Taiwan is postponed to the 6th. I’m NOT going back for good, just for vacation, in case you’re wondering.
and that’s that.

Lately my life’s been unspeakably crazy and I got very ill on Tuesday. I think it’s mostly mentally induced but I was indeed overworked myself a bit. I got a splitting headache while my body acted as if it’s falling apart. I treated myself an hour of professional massage which seemed to have done further damage to my poor shoulder.

Chelsea is coming to the State this weekend. Their first stop is Seattle and then I’m going to meet them (and Mourinho’s Inter as well) in LA next week. It feels unreal. With my life spinning in all direction and having decisions to make and to make quickly, I’m constantly overwhelmed with things I’m not even sure what they are and hence, Chelsea was reduced into something trivial and insignificant. But I hope by going to LA next Monday, the change of scenery will relight my inner fire for Chelsea. And honestly I can’t wait to visit Huntington Library again!

Cute. But quite meaningless. Tried to touch on life issues but quickly got scared away.

I don’t mind story that eventually “goes nowhere” (like Vicky Cristina Barcelona) but it’s trying too hard to say something without actually saying it. And at the end, it was like, “Ooops, 90 minutes’s up, i’d better wrap it up!” And that’s it.

Adam Brody’s cute though. And I’ve always liked Kristen Stewart.
