I am Your Sunshine

Finally got the DVDs.

Glad that I’ve read it somewhere saying that Firefly is like a western-cowboy style of show took place in the space. If I saw it on the TV without knowing how great people said it is, it’s highly possible that I’d change the channel within 2 minutes.

* Why do they have to speak Chinese. It’s such a torture knowing that if I try harder (actually, if they had tried harder), I’d be able to understand what they’re talking about. But the only thing i recognized until is “他X的”.

* What makes it different?
It shows you the importance of presentation and marketing. “Justice” doesn’t really matter that much. (So the title “Justice” is rather ironic.)

Over acting. Affected.

女主角頗賞心悅目，
男主角… 男生都覺得帥，女生都覺得他是個 loser (今天晚上兩男兩女達成的結論)。

看起來還ok，但並不會很熱情地想追著看。

只是要記一些有趣的東西。

第二季的 Bonus Material 有些好料，但第一季的 Bonus Material 通通都放在最後一片裡，害我完全沒檢查第二季前幾片的 Bonus Material，直到看到最後才發現它是分散在各片裡的。Commentary 就罷了，大部份時候我沒有心力看 Commentary，除了 season 2 finale，我很好奇他們會聊些什麼。我最念念不忘的就是 disc 2 的 Blooper Real 沒看到，我最喜歡看這種東西了啊~~~~

搭啦! 足球砰砰地踢，而電視的新學期由 House 展開，
House 的觀眾群帶給緊接著的 Standoff，也有個不錯的開始。
(開場白結束)

看到 House 跑跑跳跳以及不斷的微笑，配上 Gorillaz 的 Feel Good Inc.，我忍不住陪著他微笑。這樣的 House 也蠻有趣，但不禁讓我邊看邊抱著懷疑，”他們到底打算如何不著痕跡地一層層揭露角色的性格給大家看呢?” 看似開心的 House，沉思與面露困惑的時間比起以前要來的更頻繁。我喜歡 House 微愣時帶點迷失的眼神，因為在那個時刻，他的心被觸碰被擾動到了。

結束八週的休息 (跟電視一起放暑假?) 回到工作崗位上的 House，在尋找意義。

fmodem 提到 Jesse Spencer (人符其名) 在其他電影作品中並不亮眼，我順手 imdb 他一下，發現他竟然有演 P.D.James 的 Death in Holy Orders，我才正在圖書館借來這片呢! (書借給 chun 了)

車子 bumper 上貼了 Greg Laurie 十月中在灣區辦的 Harvest Crusade 的貼紙。
這幾天多看了幾眼，才忽然發現: Greg Laurie… Greg Laurie…

真是個有趣的巧合。
現在開著車都覺得有 House/Mr. Laurie 跟著一樣 :p

但是，到底該怎麼挑啊…

其實我比較相信 Gallas， 因為 Chelsea 好像常做些莫名其妙的事。
(不過話說回來他在這季前的行為真的頗機車，所以不知道他到底是真的忍無可忍，還是被抹黑。)

When watching House season 3 promo’s, I stumbled across a House + Standoff combo, and found the Standoff leading actor look familiar. Freshly familiar. There’s only one reason that he could look freshly familiar to me is because he was in one of the House. And I was right. He was that TB doctor in Africa. Case solved. Time to go to bed for another annoying real life work day.

Finished House, M.D. season two this weekend. Made the most of my long weekend, nice. Steak, champaine (okay, sparkling wine), ice wine and poping eye ball and all that gross-your-stomach-out stuffs.

Season two came on strong, especially the last few ones. I wonder how people endured the gap between season 2 and 3. I myself was so glad that I watched the last episode just now and less than in 24 hours, I got to watch the next episode. No wonder people were so psyched when the promo came out. After the long wait, anything is better than nothing. And now the summer’s almost gone. Hurray! :D (!?)

But watching House almost 24-7 made me depressed, or, maybe it’s just because the weekend is over. I wondered.

不知為何心浮氣躁，或者應該說，沒來由地為了某些事心浮氣躁，
又或其實，為那些事心浮氣躁並不能算是沒來由。

總之，我不想在這時為那些事心煩，
現在是我休息的時刻，我卻覺得 restless, in my mind。

即使 Chopin 不能安定心神，至少在安靜的夜裡是個享受。

(我很偷懶，加上我真的是一集接著一集囫圇吞棗地看完第一季，要我分集寫心得也是有點難。)

House 第一季前半有個固定模式，照 fmodem說法是 “怪病，頭35分鐘斷錯症然後在最後一定會救回病人的探案式習慣。” 照Adrian的說法是，”House 的探案原則就是騙犯人再找下一個受害者，然後再趁機抓他。” 這樣子的影集，再加上 House 犀利精彩的對話，是已經非常吸引人。但當第一季後半，我們漸漸開始從各個小細節上越來越窺見 House 是怎麼樣的一個人，就更讓人無可自拔地愛上他。

昨天看完了最後一集，令我印象深刻的是 House 拒絕違背Mark希望，幫 Mark 注射 cocktail。他說，”He will never forgive you.” Stacy 回，”He will.” 從他們的一來一往，以及最後兩句話，猜出當初 Stacy 離開他，也許是因為他無法原諒她不顧他意願為他做的決定。而當 Mark 的手恢復知覺，在病床上擁著 Stacy 輕撫她的背，外面的 House 若有所思，令人心疼。

ps. 最後一片 DVD 的 bonus feature，Hugh Laurie 感覺是用他的英國腔講話。令我驚訝的是，我竟然覺得他的美國腔比較有魅力…

前次回台灣帶來的駱以軍新書”我愛羅”，全是短篇，很適合隨手抓來翻兩三下。
畢竟最近有著 Sideways 和 The Jane Austen Book Club (目前已被埋在兩本 The Economist 下) 兩個大 project 同步進行著，每個停頓便是段落的短篇文集比又一本長篇小說來得切合實際。

於是我剛剛翻到了”假日校園”這一篇，不很經心地掃過文句，一邊揣測究竟他的文風是不是值得學習。(然後我發覺我現在寫出來的東西已經透露出一些他的調調。) 忽然間，本來看似跟我沒丁點關係的故事，裡面主角是一個理當跟我是完全不同世界的女孩，出現了下面幾句話 :

他說基本上你們這一塊的女孩 (非常好命的) 只有一個問題: 就是被寵壞了。沒真正吃過苦，所以成長的代價常是一種對人的任性或自私. 懶. 愛睡，品味近乎偏執地挑剔，美食主義 (女孩說: 真的耶)。

有種莫名其妙被點名的感覺。明明我沒有想買這個那個跑車，也不喜歡 LV 包包，但他描述的那樣的本質，像斜眼瞄手指著我的鼻子對著我說: “是你 是你。” 我嚇了一大跳，又為他接下來的論點感到不安:

但是這一切精緻的，脆弱易碎的櫥窗般的生活，下沒是沒有基礎的。

這一直是我內心深處的恐懼。

Just finished “Friday” (first chapter) of Sideways today. I like the way he described things. He wrote delicately whether it’s about road condition, weather changes or his emotion and thoughts. It’s very enjoyable reading the book and I was often touched along the way while reading it. (It’s quite different from the movie, so I think it’s worth reading, provided you liked the movie.) At the end of “Friday”, I can’t help but feeling sad. I closed the book reluctantly and the heavy sadness lingered so I stayed still for a couple of minutes. I can’t really describe what it was and why. I just felt sad, not particularly for them but for life itself.

After reading “Friday”, I turned to “The Time Traveler’s Wife”, just wanted to see if it’d arouse my interest into actually reading it (I’ve been thinking about reading it for years but never had the nerve to pick it up til recently), and it was GOOD. Now I have three books to read at the same time. =_=

and I’m not counting the Chinese ones I’m reading…

我的字典裡沒有”省錢”這兩個字。

I went to Borders after work today. The plan was to read and make some notes on Seattle for the trip we’re gonna take, but Sideways there on the top shelf was like calling me, so I asked someone worked in Borders to help me get it. It was fascinating. Way better than the movie (at least to the part I’ve read). It’s understandable, of course. You have to make it simpler when you shoot a movie. It was so great that I cannot put it down until Moni called. I felt somewhat guilty for leaving my “Jane Austen Book Club” at home and started another novel, but the movie was still fresh in my mind and I really can’t wait to see how the book is better than the movie. (It’s impossible for a book to be worse than it’s adaptation movie. It’s always the other way around.)

And it made me wanna drink.

(but I held it, of course. I didn’t want to waste another bottle of my good wine. <- I gotta share with others, can't finish a bottle before it went bad. /_\)

Thought it was a comedy and it turned out to be a light drama.

I wanted to watch this because Topher Grace and Dennis Quaid were in it. I like both of them for a long time, so the movie was a must for me. Still, I waited this long to rent the DVD, finally got to see it and realized it was not at all what I had expected. Beyond my expectation actually.

Christy’d watched it and said she didn’t like how it ended, so I was a bit worried, not sure what was ahead of me. But in the end, I really like it. It was light flavored, which is quite nice. Life is sometimes dramatic and sometimes like a summer breeze or calm water with soft waves. The twists were real and at a point it made me panicked for a while. I’m recently feeling lost about where my life is going and it was like a good slap on my head telling me that if I don’t figure it out and do something, it probably wouldn’t end pretty. So sad to think of this kind of thing when watching a movie. Movie ,along with TV, musical and etc, was my favorite hiding place. But I guess I needed it from time to time. And it was light so I took it fine.

Summer’s gonna end. There comes Thanksgiving, Christmas and another year. What am I doing? What am I gonna do?

“You’re gonna be ok.” Dan told Carter.

But I was more stricken when Carter said “… maybe my life has peaked at 26. Maybe it’s all downhill from here.”

Not as brilliant as I expected, but good enough. (Soothed my poor nerve after watching Snakes on the Plane.) I like the Mac guy =D
