the route

I feel so stupid for having wasted 4 years on failing or barely passing classes and seemingly not learning anything academic. I’m not saying that I should have studied hard back then. (I’m not saying that I don’t cherish all the moments I spent there with those people I love either.) However, if I could have used that time to have fun (like I had) and at the same time work my ass off and earn some money (if I could. I don’t think it’s not practical.) and study when I’m older, relatively, like now. Cos I have so much better understanding of things now. Give it literature or math or anything, I venture to say. As I was reading my 8-year-old Set Theory text book right now, I was really able to appreciate the simple yet complex beauty of it. I liked the idea of it back then, even though it took me three tries to pass the course. But I am able to settle myself and take in what’s there now. And there are subjects, such as economics, that I wouldn’t think of familiarizing myself with when I was younger and narrow minded. The order of things the society has made for the general public is at least not right for me.

無趣

Why does my life switch from one set of routines to another? Why can’t I live broader, feel more and think deeper?

Laziness is my Achilles’ heel.

Gotta do something about it…

Good day, relatively

Woke up in the morning, sort of frustrated, thinking, “gotta return the pillow I bought yesterday. It’s not doing my neck any good.”

Went to school. Took me around 15 minutes to find a space. Walked passed a guy wearing Hrvatska jacket. Took it as a good sign. Wondered if he would find it weird if I stopped him and said “I love your national football team. Niko Kovac is my hero, et cetera, et cetera.”

My Brit Lit: Victoria + Modern teacher was surprisingly young. He looked as if in his late twenties but he had to be at least thirty something. That’s just not right. Caucasians should look older than their actual age. He had two earrings and a punk-ish haircut. He’s nothing like my Brit Lit: Neo-classical + Romantics teacher. He offended at least one of the students in the first 10 minutes. He sure got style. I’m not able to decide whether it’s a good thing or not yet.

We got 20 or so people for Literary Magazine this quarter. (I decided to take it, even though it drove me nuts to read some really crappy works. Nevertheless, the experience in all was rather pleasant and rewarding.) Most of the people seem nice and willing to contribute to the magazine. But I’ve grown cynic by the end of last quarter. We’ll see how many will stick around two weeks later.

That’s about it. Off to cook my second dinner.

$$$

grocery $14

sloppy at the begining but there were some hot dances.

Watchmen (2009)

All the whores and politicians will look up and shout “Save us!“… and I will look down and whisper, “No.”

Watchmen_banner-1
B+

A super-powerful non-human, a smart narcissist, a charming villain, a lonely poet, a babe, and a dork who has a secret crush on the babe.

The moral of the story is…
the dork can get the babe (after she’s done with the superman).

Okay, be serious. I like the movie. But I have to get the part I don’t like out of my head before I can talk about it. Frankly I was sort of disappointed at Zack Snyder, who brought us the magnificent 300 three years ago. Connections between scene were sometimes awkward and obstructed the flow of the movie, and the pace was sometimes, just sometimes, not right. I guess it was too complicated a story comparing to 300 and it’s hard to fit so grand a story into 160 minutes without making it seemed fragmented. However, the music selection was great; combined with visuals, it’s a feast in itself. The scene where the Comedian dies was heartbreakingly beautiful. Throughout Nat King Cole’s Unforgetable, the Comedian embraced his fate, fought and was overcome. The smiley face stained with a drop of blood fell into the crimson river next to his body; My Heart Aches. After their spontaneous superhero-save-the-day play act, Night Owl II and Silk Spectre II made love to Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, which was made famous by Jeff Buckley’s cover. Wagner’s Walkürenritt (The Ride of the Valkyrie) righteously strung their victory of the Vietnam war. Jimi Hendrix’ All Along the Watchtower walked with Night Owl II and Rorschach into Ozymandias’ “base”. Nevertheless, The Sound Of Silence at the funeral scene was a little bit cheesy even for my taste.

Better Off Ted s1e1 pilot

perception

Your state of mind, or rather your attitude towards a person, really determines how you perceive things (regarding to the person).

I’m sorry for being utterly ungrateful and, more importantly, mean.

They really weren’t bad stuffs, and we all can see the heart in it. It’s an awful shame that it was the heart that I didn’t want. Therefore, I regarded them altogether as… well, unwelcome.

i’m sorry i’m bad, i’m sorry you’re blue

tonight’s show was very enjoyable. It’s pretty unusual for early episodes.
