Meredith 與她媽媽的 closure (是的, 我討厭中英文混雜寫, but i’m out of time here so bear with me.) McSteamy 與 Addison 的”賭注”, 每對不適合的人都要試試看能不能 make it work 嗎?

StarSport has a prematch report. They talked about FC Porto, Champion of 2004 European Champions League, sold for GBP 75 mil (we all know that Mournhio brought Ferrera and Carvalho with him, Deco went to Barca and so on and so forth. turns out that the goalkeeper was the only one remains in the team… XD) which I found quite hilarious (and sad.)

Terry was injured within the first 10 minutes. It was horrible. Hope it’s not serious. And we had 10 men on the pitch for over 5 minutes. Without Terry on the defense line, Porto scored the first goal. However, on 16th minute, Sheva scored a brilliant one. I almost bursted out into tears. Sheva now seems rather confident, unlike few months ago when he first arrived Stamford Bridge. He was so shy and timid, not like an European Footballer of the Year supposed to be.

The second half was dull. Robben for some reason was replaced by John Obi Mikel, and the referee was a psychopath.

well, we’ll see you at home, Porto.

Somewhere beyond the sea,
Somewhere, waiting for me,
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailing;

Somewhere beyond the sea,
He’s there watching for me.
If I could fly like birds on high,
Then straight to his arms I’d go sailing.

It’s far beyond a star,
It’s near beyond the moon,
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon.

We’ll meet beyond the shore,
We’ll kiss just as before.
Happy we’ll be beyond the sea,
And never again I’ll go sailing!

Hustle and Flow (2005)

hustle2You probably remembered the roaring comments (positive or negative) roused by Three 6 Mafia’s performance of It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp on the Academy Awards last year.

I knew little about the movie, wasn’t intended to watch it, but life was like that, things happen when you’re least expected.

In the first 30 minutes, I decided I wasn’t going to like the movie but I’d endure it since I couldn’t go anywhere else. Aside from the fact that it’s about an unsuccessful pimp, the movie gave me a feeling of Taiwanese suburbia day time drama, strangely. But then I realized it’s actually a movie about music, about the American dream. Half way through the movie, it became all warm and fuzzy as I started to feel for/with the characters, however unredeemable they are. And that’s when the movie went cliche-ish. Nevertheless, it was still fun and inspiring watching them produce the songs, and surprisingly, I enjoyed it quite much. (surprisingly, it turned out to be an uplifting movie. Who’d have thought!”)

I love this episode very much.

It’s funny how half of the shows I’m watching now are in their third season (the other half first) and how they all seemed to be slipping (if haven’t already.) House successfully won my heart back 2 weeks ago as I’m getting more and more lukewarm and today Alan Shore’s done it too. Aside from the side stories: Denny Crane goes to the temple and Denise and Brad go to couples therapy, Alan was the star of the day.

He took two case on the same day, one was about a mourning daughter stealing her father’s plastinized body from the museum, the other about a therapist being discharged for claiming that he witnessed extraterrestrial life. The cases were not so special, but Alan’s closing on humanity for the father-daughter case was clearly a production of his clash with Jerry “hands” Espenson in the other courtroom. Alan surprisingly found himself in the same court with Jerry, but as opposing counsels. They were genuinely very happy to see each other and hugged and had a quick catchup right in front of the unhappy judge. “I won’t have happiness in my courtroom.” “You two huggers don’t get to decide – I’m the decider! ” Shelly Berman as the judge was truly hilarious. Seeing Jerry in court, all confident with the help of a wooden cigarette, charming the entire courtroom, Alan seemed amazed and amused. He knew he’s facing Jerry’s copy of the Alan Shore. And there was even a moment Alan seemed a little crashed.

He had to do something. So Alan took the advantage of being Jerry’s friend and affectively used his weaknesses against him. It nearly broke my heart seeing him shatter Jerry. I know he was sincerely happy for Jerry seeing him being able to stand firm in the court room with full confidence, but at the same time he had to do his job as an lawyer. And an accomplished lawyer like him, jaded and darkness-filled, he could and would do whatever necessary to win the case, including hurting his own friend. He regretted it instantly; however, he told himself (and Jerry) that he is who he is while apologizing. And his closing for Maureen (the girl who stole her father’s body) was in fact an appeal for his own salvation.

This is by far the best BL episode this year.

Smokin’ Aces (2007)

I expected a happy action movie with loads of joyous killings, but Smokin’ Aces turned out to be something else. It’s not just a series of splendid gun & violence, it’s tense, it’s funny, it’s crazy, it’s got a plot and yes, it’s a series of splendid gun & violence. I love it.

I’m big fan of action movies. However, I don’t like torturing, amputation (I don’t mind the implication, as long as you don’t show me the actual thing.) or anything causing enormous physical pain. (that’s why I don’t like Hostage. It’s too much for me. Though I appreciate the story.)

Some aspects I like about Smokin’ Aces:
1. vivid characteristics portrayal of each roles with limited overlapping
2. excellent acting

Misc:
-The film was mostly shot at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, which was where RadioAlice had their Lake Tahoe event with Bowling for Soup hosted by Sarah and No Name.
-Alicia Keys, hot.
Clint Mansell’s Dead Reckoning gave the film a tragically poetic ending.
-Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) was mentioned in several reviews. Should be worth taking a look.

我們低頭抱怨, “when is this stupid rain gonna stop?”

Corinne Bailey Rae, Firefly complete series, Blue October [History for Sale]

Chelsea Rules!!!!!! Continue Reading »

Saw Amazing Grace preview for the second time last night. It’s another must-see for me. Many actors and actresses look familiar to me; however, when I passed by the poster, none of the names rang a bell. But I knew I definitely know them from somewhere.

The girl (the only girl) was deinitely British I was sure, and she turned out to be Gwendolen Harleth in Daniel Deronda, Vivian in Scoop, and Cassandra Mortmain in I Capture the Castle. William Wilberforce was played by Ioan Gruffudd, Reed Richards in Fantastic Four, Horatio in Hornblower. Ciarán Hinds, our Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre (1997). Michael Gambon, Dumbledore, of course, and many more. Rufus Sewell, Marke in Tristan + Isolde, Crown Prince Leopold in the Illusionist, Eric Stark in Blessed the Child.

There are many other films I’d like to check out as well, see here. It’s weird that I remember complaining about not having enough movies to watch during last summer, and now it seems that I can never catch up with the new releases. Isn’t the summer supposed to be like a (commercial) movie fest?

Prime, The Pursuit of Happyness, Stomp the Yard, Working Girl, Wall Street, Pan’s Laborynth, Pretty in Pink, Get Shorty, The Three Faces of Eve , Stage Beauty, Smokin’ Aces, Because I Said So, Run Lola Run, The Good Shepherd , Notes on a Scandal

Happy New Year

Diarra! Diarra! Diarra!

These are our boys! How can I not love Chelsea? ;)

Mourinho.

Here’s looking at you, kid.

Serbia

I’m for Croatia (XD),
